COLOR CHANGES EVERYTHING
March, 2017 | ROZ MORGAN
I am thrilled that you have decided to spend some time with me. I am working very hard to make it worth your while. I am a traveler of the world in search of colour knowledge. My bookcases are full of colour books. Some of my favourites ....
Have you ever picked the wrong colour? I have. Not recently thankfully but there have been some doozies in the past. Sometimes I have lived with my mistake and other times I have had to drag myself to the store and spend my money all over again. Whether it be paint or clothes.
Colour is a personal signature of who we are. It personalizes our feelings and makes a statement…….
Living with the wrong colours is bad for our mental and physical health. No really. If every night we come home from a hard day at work, walk in our front door and feel deflated because there is something not quite right about our home, then we are missing out on enjoying our most valuable asset. I love walking through my front door and feeling elated at what I see.
It is the same thing for an article of clothing. How awful do we feel when we put something on and the colour is drained from our faces or casting shadows making us feel lumpy and bumpy. Many of us wear black because we think it is safe. But, often it simply makes us look older.
How drab and boring do we feel when someone walks in the room with a beautiful scarf or a colourful accessory to liven up that grey suit or black dress? It gives them a signature look.
Or we cover our walls in nondescript beige or white because we think it safe.
When we could have something like this.
And then there are those people who just can’t get enough colour and decorate everything they can. I go out of my way to drive by this garage because it makes me happy!
We let colour work us instead of us taking control and working colour to our advantage.
I want to change that.
I want you to fill your house and your life with the colours that make your heart sing.
Here is what a student wrote to me after one of my workshops.
“Roz I am always amazed when you present colour. I’ve always thought white and black were enough :). This incredibly beautiful range is very refreshing and brings me so much closer to experiencing joy”
I treasure that note. I keep it in my wallet and carry it with me every day to remind myself how important my work is.
Is there anything more calming than these beautiful colours?
Or more exhilarating than this blazing color?
“I hope you will come with me on my journey. "
